Our mission statement

Only Natural Ingredients

We use only natural ingredients in each bar of soap. If you are prone to allergies or have issues with additives irritating your skin, perhaps all-natural is the best choice for you! Please note that as we do not use any alcohol in our products,  our bars may be may be covered by a slight white powdery discoloration. This is soda ash created during the process of saponification and is harmless.

There are a few cases where natural essential oils are cost prohibitive in soap. In this case we do use fragrance oils instead of essential oils. This is true for bars with the following scents: sandalwood, dragon's blood.

We have switched to 100% silicone and latex free! All of our soaps are now manufactured in hand made wooden molds, lined with parchment paper. Our soaps have had zero contact with silicone or latex molds.

Environmental Responsibility

We care deeply about the environment and recycle 100% of all plastic, glass and cardboard packaging in which our supplies arrive.

In order to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum, we do not use heating pads during the saponification process of our bars. This may lead to irregularities in design and coloration of our cold process bars. Please expect this when ordering our soap.

In 2020 we acquired a piece of wetland property we affectionately named" Walnut Grove" . All proceeds from the purchase of any of our jewel weed bar soaps are invested into conserving Walnut Grove as a natural habitat for the future.

Animal Welfare

As a specialist in lard and lye soaps, many of our products contain lard, which is an animal derivative. For our customers concerned with animal welfare, our suppliers participate in  a Process Verified Program (PVP) certification, a program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) which ensures all animals coming to their facilities have been raised with animal  welfare as a priority. They also comply with all NAMI recommended animal handling guidelines and are regularly audited to ensure the welfare of their livestock before, during and after they leave  their premises.

For their safety, and the safety of their newborn piglets, pregnant sows are separated from other animals in their own group housing. Immediate veterinary services are available should the need arise and all animals are kept in enriched barns to ensure they have ample space to move around, socialize and stay healthy.

We do not test any of our products on animals or carry out any animal testing.
